You’re the main character in your own movie called life. An unpredictable journey with plot twists that can make or break your day.
It’s all great when everything falls into place and life’s playing your favorite song. Savor those moments because life’s sweet when all stars align. And, when things start going south, don’t panic. Just take a step back and become the spectator of your own movie.
Stepping back creates room for your feelings to run wild until they get tired. Stepping back prevents you from hijacking yourself. View your life from a different vantage point and allow for a more detached and objective assessment of the situation.
Fear not. Stepping back is not the same as that time when you tossed the keys and took the back seat, trusting someone else to drive you to the destination. That’s when you lost track of the map you imagined for yourself at the beginning of the journey.
Sure, taking a step back, becoming your own spectator takes practice. Some call it mindfulness. If you can’t practice mindfulness, grab a journal and start scribbling like I’m doing right now. It doesn’t have to make sense to anyone, not even yourself.
Here’s the deal: cut yourself some slack. Step back from the pressure to make sense of it all. Embrace the day, throw on your pink glasses, and snag a front-row seat in the audience of your own life.
It’s a wild ride, but guess what? You’ve got the best ticket in the house. Enjoy the show, my friend!
