Make the most of the day

Posted on Sunday, May 10th, 2026Sunday, May 10th, 2026 by Ella Joseph

Crappy weather weekends are perfect for personal projects. There. I said it. The things I tell myself to feel better.

After all, bad weather removes the pressure to go out and “make the most of the day.” Beautiful weather weekends come with expectations. You’re supposed to be outside, walking, socializing, doing something fun worth sharing with your coworkers on Monday, and somehow making the most of your day.

Crappy weather weekends are different. They give you permission to stay in, open the laptop, and work on the many unfinished personal projects quietly waiting for their turn. Speaking of which, I’m finally starting to see light at the end of the tunnel with one of them.

Keep in mind May 15, the deadline I set for the go-live of my digital course, Finding Your Happy Place. Keep me accountable.

I say, bad weather is great. Stay in. Focus. Work on what matters. Get things done. My lilac in front of the house has started to bloom. If she can thrive in this weather, I can too.

Plus, I have yoga to brighten my weekends. It relaxes my mind and stretches my body. The same body that keeps hunching over a laptop hour after hour, every single day. Although I can’t blame it all on the laptop. Before the laptop, there were books and notebooks. There still are.

So cheers to the grey skies and rainy days that make the most of the days ahead. And thank God for yoga.

Speaking of yoga, have you read The New York Times article about the now 103-year-old yoga teacher from Léré, France? She was also awarded India’s Padma Shri in 2024 for her contribution to yoga.

You can read the inspiring article and perhaps pick up a few wellbeing tips here.
