As the scent of Thanksgiving permeates the air and discussions about turkeys fill our conversations, I’ll take a moment to step into a realm of gratitude – inspired by Carla Becker’s uplifting journey of 23 days of thankfulness (on Facebook).
Because within Carla’s expressions of gratitude, I found a connection that resonated so deeply with me – her heartfelt acknowledgment of a sister’s care for their mom. On that same heartfelt note, my gratitude extends to my brother – the unsung hero in the narrative of my life who tirelessly takes care of our mother and still finds energy to lift me up every single time he senses my wavering. Without his solid support, I couldn’t be here today, reflecting on gratitude.
In the spirit of Thanksgiving, a special thank you goes to all the people who made my year brighter. I won’t list their names here, I’m sure they know who they are and how much they mean to me. And, of course, a big thank you to you, my readers! Also, this year, I’ve decided to extend a thank you to myself. I know, it sounds a bit strange, right? But let me explain why.
This year, I came to realize that I’m still dreaming, standing tall, and most importantly, believing in myself because, well, because of me. After all, I’m the captain of my ship. So this year, rather than dwelling on all my imperfections and less-than-flawless moments, I’ve decided to embrace myself with all my quirks and occasional embarrassing episodes, and celebrate my strengths.
And as we gather around the table of thanks, let’s savor the flavors of turkey while appreciating others but also indulge in a feast of self-appreciation. Because, in the grand scheme of gratitude, acknowledging the strength within ourselves adds depth and richness to our celebration.
Cheers to a Thanksgiving full of gratitude for the good outside and for the strength inside each of us!
