Here we are, in December, with less than a month until the start of a new year. How exciting is that? Or not?
It doesn’t matter which side of the fence you’re on at the moment – trust me, I’ve been on both sides. As our circumstances change, our mindset and inner state change, and so does our dynamic and relationship with the winter holidays.
My Christmas celebration just kicked off with a cookie baking party with my coworkers. It was my first time cookie baking ever – yes, I mean it! But that’s a tale for another time…
Among us, we baked eight kinds of cookies. Between spilling a full glass of wine (luckily not on anyone’s clothes) and a failed recipe, I had so much fun! And with us being a team of four, I didn’t have to take the blame for the cookies that fell apart in the oven.
At the end of it all, as we indulged in the tasting and my stomach was already hurting from the cookie overload, I found “the one!”
Rugelach, my newest cookie crush! 💖
This cookie took forever to bake. We were just hanging around, twiddling our thumbs, while our neighbor team was still hustling away at it. Like all good things in life, it made us wait a bit.
The best part for me? It has no sugar. So versatile, it takes its sweetness from whatever jam or chocolate your heart desires. It looks like a mini croissant, but surprise, it’s got that cookie texture.
And when I took the first bite, it was love at first sight. It hit me with flavors that reminded me of my childhood cozonac. And the shape? It took me back to those good ol’ cornulete, another childhood treat. Each nibble triggered warm, fuzzy memories and that ahhh feeling of… home.
